The main Brazilian meeting for the converted plastics industrial sector, the World Plastic Connection Summit, has opened registrations for the fourth edition, which will be held from April 8 to 10, 2025 at the Novotel Center Norte, in São Paulo. This meeting, promoted by Think Plastic Brazil, a portfolio of solutions that support the converted plastic products sector in the internationalization process for target markets, carried out through a partnership between ApexBrasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) and the INP (Brazilian Plastics Institute), reaffirms its importance as a platform for innovation and sustainability for the sector.
The World Plastic Connection Summit emerged as a strategic response to the complexities faced during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, marking an era of transformation in the Brazilian plastics industry. Composed of eight projects, the ecosystem aims to connect Brazilian companies in the plastics sector to global markets and improve the international perception of Brazil in terms of innovation, sustainability and business capacity.
José Ricardo Roriz Coelho, president of the Deliberative Council of the Brazilian Plastics Institute, president of the Council of the Brazilian Plastics Industry Association (Abiplast) and president of the Council of the Plastic Material Industry Union (SINDIPLAST), highlighted the relevance of the event: “The Summit is an essential platform for the advancement of the converted plastics sector in Brazil. It is a space where we can share experiences, promote innovations and discuss paths towards more sustainable development”.
The choice of the city of São Paulo as the headquarters is due to its robust infrastructure and strategic position as an industrial and technological center. “São Paulo is the ideal place for a meeting of this magnitude, due to its capacity to host major events and its economic and industrial importance”, comments Edison Terra Filho, executive president of the Brazilian Plastics Institute (INP), executive president of the Plastic Resins Industry Union of the State of São Paulo (SIRESP), executive president of the Asociación Química y Petroquimica Latinoamericana (APLA) and vice-president of Braskem’s Olefins and Polyolefins Business in South America.
One of the premises of Think Plastic Brazil’s planning is to position the Brazilian plastics sector as one of the main global players in innovation, design and sustainability. The World Plastic Connection Summit is one of the fundamental tools to unfold these strategies. This ecosystem, made up of eight projects, permeates all strategic axes of the Portfolio. For example, the international seminar is part of the business development axis, while the export consultancy clinics and technical visits belong to the central services axis. Image promotion, yearbook and awards are linked to the image promotion axis. The buyer project is associated with the commercial promotion axis, and Color Trend is part of the innovation, design and ESG axis. Furthermore, the Market Intelligence axis is transversal to all Summit projects. The simultaneous realization of these eight projects provides a true international immersion in the sector, allowing participants to stay up to date with the latest news. This networking facilitates debates and suggestions, promoting continuous advances in the competitiveness of the converted plastics sector on the global stage. “When we think about global competitiveness strategies, sustainable innovation is crucial for the future of our industry. The agenda offers an opportunity to discuss and implement solutions that could shape the sector in the coming years”, says Carlos Moreira, Brazilian Plastic Institute Executive Director & Think Plastic Brazil CPO.
