The new metalizer acquired by Vitopel, member of Think Plastic Brazil, a portfolio of solutions for the plastic-converted products sector in the internationalization process for target markets, carried out through a partnership between ApexBrasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) and INP (Brazilian Plastic Institute), is about to transform the Brazilian market for flexible BOPP packaging.
This cutting-edge technology, in addition to marking a major technological advance, promotes a series of improvements in production processes. It is a disruptive line of metalized products, obtained through innovative metallization technologies. With exclusive attributes in the Brazilian market, the metallizer provides unparalleled benefits for all links in the chain, especially converters and brand owners.
In October, Vitopel implemented a training and qualification program for its technical/sales team to ensure that customers receive the best solutions on the market, produced using this equipment, which is the first to be installed in Brazil for BOPP.
In this movement, metallized films will initially be launched that offer advantages when compared to current products, such as potential gains in shelf life (due to a better barrier), allowing the replacement of multi-material packaging with recyclable mono-material structures or combined with PE/PP.
For Carlos Moreira, Brazilian Plastic Institute Executive Director & Think Plastic Brazil CPO, innovation is one of the pillars for the full internationalization of the Brazilian converted plastics industry. “One of Think Plastic Brazil’s priorities is for the Brazilian converted plastics sector to be recognized as a reference in innovation, design and sustainability, which is why this new development by Vitopel is so significant for us,” he says.
The set of technological improvements with investments, modernization of facilities and a new portfolio will allow the company to expand into new markets – such as coffee, oilseeds, seasonings, powdered juices and dairy products –, in addition to strengthening its competitiveness in the international market, where it already has a solid presence.
“The arrival of the new metallizer at our Votorantim/SP manufacturing plant marks a decisive moment for Vitopel, highlighting our ongoing commitment to excellence and innovation. We are excited about the new opportunities and confident that our customers will appreciate the new additions to our portfolio. We will present high-performance solutions and, with this, we will take BOPP films to a new level locally,” says Aldo Mortara, Vitopel’s commercial director.
Vitopel has the largest installed capacity for metallized films in Brazil, and with this project it expects a 40% increase in its annual production capacity for metallized films, measured in tons, which will allow it to substantially expand its exports, reaching key markets in Central America and, especially, in North America.
